Prepare for a scream! On Monday morning, a person dressed as the iconic Ghostface killer from the Scream franchise appeared on a Sonoma street corner and the Ghostface Killer Prompts Multiple 911 Calls. But don’t worry, it was just a promotional stunt for the latest movie!
The Scream franchise has been haunting horror fans for years, and Ghostface is one of the most recognizable villains of all time. Interestingly, the franchise has a special connection to Sonoma – they filmed scenes for the original 1996 Scream movie across Sonoma County, including the area near Sonoma Square. That movie crushed the box office and has since become a cult classic.
The Scream franchise already released five movies, and fans can’t wait for the sixth. The upcoming installment has fans eagerly anticipating its release and the excitement is palpable.
But it’s important for companies to ensure that their marketing strategies don’t cause any harm or panic. The Sonoma Police Department was quick to investigate the Ghostface promotion to make sure everyone was safe.
Although it was all in good fun, it’s understandable that residents of Sonoma would be wary of the Ghostface character appearing in their town. But rest assured, it was all just a thrilling and chilling promotion for the upcoming Scream VI release on March 10th!
Given the character’s eerie reputation, it’s not surprising that residents of Sonoma were cautious of the Ghostface’s sudden appearance. Nonetheless, it was all meant to be a harmless promotion.
