You could say the Mountbatten-Windsors are one of the most talked-about families in the world, with the Queen hitting the headline in particular. The Queen’s comments on ageing have made it this time.
From her hilarious/random names for her Corgis: Candy, Brush, Vulcan, Tiny and Bisto Oxo to just name a few to her incredible Ali G impression. Also, you may remember that time she hid in a bush to avoid a controversial Buckingham Palace guest, Queen Liz never fails to make the news.
This week is no exception as the monarch’s inspirational comments about ageing went viral and are something we all needed to hear.
In possibly the most bizarre news, Her Majesty was awarded the biggest prize of the 2021 Oldie of the Year Awards, to which reportedly, in classic Liz style she ‘politely but firmly’ turned down.
Yep, that’s right, the 95-year-old declined the award because she believed she didn’t ‘meet the relevant criteria’ insisting ‘you are only as old as you feel’. We hear you Liz!
The magazine has published the letter from Tom Laing-Baker, the Queen’s private secretary in their November issue, and to which we aren’t surprised, the words are going viral.
The letter reads ‘Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel, as such The Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept and hopes you will find a more worthy recipient,’
We’ve all heard this phrase about ageging before but it certainly means more coming from the Queen herself.
