Why do you wake up moments before your alarm goes off?

According to a study published, the reason to Why do you wake up moments before your alarm goes off, is because your body’s finely tuned internal clock gets set for an early wake-up call. It’s all courtesy of the little-known KDM5A gene, dubbed “the alarm clock gene.”

A protein called PER plays a key role in regulating our sleep-wake cycle. Scientists say that if you stick to a consistent sleep schedule, your body will learn to adapt and increase your levels of PER just before your alarm is due to go off.

This increase usually happens around an hour before the alarm goes off, as our body begins to release stress hormones. To avoid feelings of shock or stress when you get woken up by the alarm, your body starts to produce PER earlier in the night.

As the day wanes, levels of PER drop. Falling PER protein levels at night causes your biological systems to slow: your blood pressure drops, your heart rate slows and your mental processes wind down. All of these signals tell your brain it’s time to hit the sack. Is there anything else I can help you with?
