Gilbert Gottfried was known for being the voice of Lago, the wise-crack parrot in Disney’s Aladdin back in 1992. Sadly, he recently lost his battle with a long time illness at the age of 67.
Stars like Mark Hamill, Amy Schumer and Seth MacFarlane started tributes to the “one-of-a-kind” US comic and actor.
Schumer posted, “Gilbert was so sweet. Genuinely kind, a legend,”.

Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy tweeted, “Gilbert Gottfried made me laugh so hard that day on set, I could barely do my job.
“A wholly original comic, and an equally kind and humble guy behind the scenes. He will be missed.”
Marlee Matlin, oscar-winner posted; “I am so sad to read about the passing of Gilbert Gottfried, funny, politically incorrect but a softie on the inside.”
“We met many times; he even pranked me on a plane, replacing my interpreter Jack Jason (they’re like twins).” with a picture of them together.
Gilbert was born in Brooklyn, New York and his father owned a hardware store he started stand-up at just 15 before he started to perform and write sketches on Saturday Night Live.
The news of Gottfried’s death was announced on social media channels which read,
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness,”.
“In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children.
“Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honour.”.
